Spotlight Tuesday: Yvonne Chaka Chaka - Princess Of Africa

What's your favourite Chaka Chaka song? 'Thank You Mr DJ?' 'I'm Burning Up,' 'I Cry For Freedom,' or 'Makoti'? My all time favourite Chaka Chaka song is 'Umqumbothi.' It's one of the songs that get a good girl jumping up and down. But yeah, let's have a brief profile on the Princess of Africa.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka was born Yvonne Machaka in 1965, in Dobsonville, Soweto, South Africa. She is a South African singer who has been active on the music scene for over two decades. Her musical career started at 19 when she was discovered in 1985. She was the first black child to appear on television in South Africa. She had a humble beginning as her father died when she was young and her mother supported her children through a meagre earning as a domestic worker.

She released many hits that many music lovers cherished all over the world, especially in Nigeria. She lives in South Africa with her husband. Everyone loves Chaka Chaka.
