What Does It Take To Be A Blogger?

Em...ma'am, what's your occupation again? I'm a blogger. A what? A blogger. What do you actually do? Everybody blogs nowadays. True, but I blog things for fun and fame. I try to keep up with important people in order to entertain the general public. In Nigeria? Do you actually do it in this country? Yes, I do that and a lot of things but basically that's what I do for a living.

No, madam, that wasn't me in that conversation. I'm a blogger for fun but fame? Mbanu. I can't blog to win a laptop. But I love blogging. I mean I have always liked to write a long time ago. Right now, the competition is fierce...and the blackmail nko? Anyway, I'm not complaining about my erratic schedule that allows me no love of blogging. What about EEDC or even the network provider? I have switched from one provider to another yet my problem is unresolved - I can't blog from home.

Yes, my schedule ensures that I'm busy doing other things such as browsing my phone for countless minutes searching for that very elusive job with British Council. Do they do Igbo examinations over there? The last time I checked, they conducted IELTS examinations. Tough luck. So, one of my problems could be looking for a job in the wrong place. Perhaps I would need to start a centre for Test of Igbo as a Second Language. Wish me luck. Right now, I'm sitting in this cyber space cradled up in the cyber cafe, ignoring my neighbour whose phone that is ringing incessantly and interrupting me is generally annoying me.

I love that there are a few Nigerians who have succeeded in using Blogging as their main squeeze job. In fact, they make it sound like it's a million naira venture after eight years. Em...maybe I should start a boutique. I like to tell Mama Emeka that that Honeywell semovita has added another 100 naira because of the holidays. You know, I like to see money exchange hands. That's the Aba side of me. The Ibadan side of me wants me to try this blogging thing again. And the American side of me? Truthfully, the Aba side of me actually took my writing out of Nigeria. You haven't heard this before. But as I get older I would like to do hard core business, with its attendant organizing.

I'm trying to get things squared; it's a tough job to be an adult. I'm trying to stay focused. So, yeah, in case you really wanted to add blogger to the names you wanna call me, don't  include any chieftancy (does the word appear in your English dictionary?) title because that won't be me called Chief Blogger Ijeoma Njoku....(other names are hereby supplemented).

But why Orielm Express? Don't ask me what I intend to do with this blog because it's what it is, a medium of expression. It's going to be an interesting love affair. I hardly keep my promises online. Yup, that's one of the reasons why I'm non political. I'll be a truthfully impressive leader but not one who figures things out immediately.. Save your votes for the Okezie vs Alex drama abi na palavar. I'm in Abia and this is Orielm Express signing out. Stay tuned for 'glocal' information and updates.
