I give up...this has become a weekend updates blog or something like that. But I'm not complaining. I'm only whining but the volume is rather mild. I'm thankful that I still can blog. Many people don't have the opportunity. Anyway, if they can't blog, they should at least skip up the hills of their villages. No, I'm not mean, I'm just saying...do something else. Life is about alternatives. There's always something else for everything else.
The grapefruit is sarcastic, sorry, em...OK, it's sour for the most part. Yes, I know about the technological advancements in agriculture that have made many species sweet. Sweet grapefruit is strange; it gotta be sour to be natural. There are many uses for the grapefruit. I eat it outright out of my hands. I suck out the juice after of course peeling off the skin. Can I quote Wikipedia on Blogger? It was a taboo way back in graduate school to cite Wiki. for any of our assignments. Don't ask my why; my professors would rather provide the answers.
According to the Internet encyclopedia aka Wikipedia, the grapefruit originated in Barbados. Who knew that? It's also called the "forbidden fruit." (Heehe...ask Adam what he called the fruit that got him into trouble.) It cures all sorts of stomach upset. Here's what my Internet source says about our fruit:
The evergreen grapefruit trees usually grow to around 5–6 meters (16–20 ft) tall, although they can reach 13–15 m (43–49 ft). The leaves are glossy dark green, long (up to 15 centimeters (5.9 in)) and thin. It produces 5 cm (2 in) white four-petaled flowers. The fruit is yellow-orange skinned and generally an oblate spheroid in shape; it ranges in diameter from 10–15 cm (3.9–5.9 in). The flesh is segmented and acidic, varying in color depending on the cultivars, which include white, pink and red pulps of varying sweetness (generally, the redder varieties are sweeter). The 1929 US Ruby Red (of the Redblush variety) has the first grapefruit patent.Patent for grapefruit? I'm learning something new here. Anyway, shop around for the grapefruit. The seed extract is good for you. I would love a cup of the pressed juice or its smoothie or a grapefruit milkshake. Have you tried that: grapefruit, ice cream and some bananas? Happy shopping and a fabulous weekend to you all.
