From 'Let Women Rule' to 'Herspects'...That Metamorphosis

I attended Gifted Women 2007 in Boston, Massachusetts USA, in late
2007. It actually took place in Cambridge, MA.
It was an interesting get together for women politicians and
female students of political science and other social sciences.
Ambassador Swanee Hunt was our hostess and the organizer.

In attendance, were notable politicians like the then House Speaker
Nancy Pelosi and some Congress women. Of course, there was the
ambassador whose home afforded me the foremost opportunity to
experience New England hospitality. You can't blame me. I was fresh
out of the boat. Lol.

It would be my first official secular outing in the USA. I loved it.
I was a newbie to American politics, on the ground. I was enrolled in a new program.
I was on the roll, on a complicated trip, which I hoped to work out. I
was wrong. It was quite a difficult journey. However, in the meantime,
I was going to survive. Somehow.

The event set me up for aspiration: maybe even success. I was going to
become a politician. No way. I was happy to be a critic. A political
analyst. My forte was in strategy, without calculations.

Anyway, the interesting event with other such things informed my
decision to start a blog on blogger, in 2007. I was happy with my
program studies. The women's event had opened my eyes to a whole new
world. I wasn't new to feminism. It started at quite a young age,
maybe in primary school and matured in the University.

I think I started the blog with a title, something on Feminism.
Hahaha...I was so doped - on inexperience. Not really. I had been
active in campus journalism, for what it was worth, during my
undergraduate years.

After reading Swanee Hunt's Let Women Rule, I chose to change the blog
title to her article published in Foreign Policy in 2007, I believe. I
usually quoted her in my research articles. Em...did I give her credit for
the blog title?

Somehow, life got in the way. Work and school took all of my time. I
totally forgot about my blog. Probably entering an article about once a
year. Well, I had to do first things first. Stephen Covey would have
agreed with me. I mean him not him in the 7 Habits.

But there was Facebook that I joined in 2008. And I should have
blogged instead. Many of my FB posts were 'bloggable' topics, many of
them attitudinal and controversial. That was what happened.
Faceblogging. Silly stuff.

Many years gone by, I decided to resume blogging in 2009. I even
created another one, Ori Aku. Hmmm.... Fun deal. Still continued to
lapse in inconsistency with Let Women Rule. Some people blog as a
hobby, just for fun. In fact, many people I knew blogged this way in
the States. Actually, I'm yet to meet in person anyone who blogs for
money, to my knowledge. I will love a chance meeting.

When I returned to Nigeria in 2011, I decided to change the blog title
to HERSPECTS, this year 2013. Herspects? Her + aspects. The feminine
ways, outlook, aspect, view, look etc. Everything concerning women
viewed the feminine way, which truly is diverse.

Therefore, Let Women Rule, which was themed on social sciences
metamorphosed or changed its look to acquire a humanities
stance/perspective, Herspects. It is what it is, humanities cum social
sciences cum sciences cum everything feminine. The good, the bad, the
wowo (ugly) and the go get a life.

I'm still inspired by Swanee Hunt and her efforts in lifting women
from obscurity through her media. I understand that the journey to
perfection will take a long relay race to human self determination.
All contributing our own quota. It takes us all.
