Harvest of puppies. We need bids from dog food companies. Any from Pedigree...?

It's hard to post this entry. I don't know what I will be talking about, dog food or puppies. If I do both, I will make myself happy; how can you talk about 12 puppies without talking about dog food?

We have fourteen dogs in our house. Luckily, twelve (12) of them are still breast feeding so we aren't giving them any food. Two mother dogs and their six puppies a piece. Maybe it's not worth entering in Guinness Book of World Records, but the mother dog and daughter dog giving birth a week apart is something funny but also mind bungling. Yes, when the puppies would need solid food, we'll be in trouble.

I googled (how did that become a verb?) dog food and found a few companies that we need to send serious SOS to, which include Alpo, Beneful, Dog Chow, Pedigree, Bakers, Wellness, Pro Plan et cetera. How did this happen?

We had a bitch, which gave birth to four puppies last year. Read about it here. It's on my Wordpress blog, which I haven't updated in a long time. Mother Dog Ginger's puppies were eventually sold except for one that my family called Best. Best was a quiet dog, no you don't keep a dog for her quietness. Most people prefer aggressive dogs. But you don't take her for granted. She's a bitch for a good reason. She became pregnant perhaps a week before her mother and they gave birth in the same month 18th and 28th September, Best was first. Yes, stuff like this has happened even among humans so no big gist here.

However, I think it would be serious trouble to have fourteen dogs to feed from one kitchen. They are local dogs, no rare breeds. We live in the rural (you would think it's semi urban) area of Aba, actually a suburb of the city. The dogs in this area are of the local species. That's not to say that there aren't the rare breeds around. We feed them leftovers from our table. They eat that but I wonder if it makes them sick. They would like Pedigree better, I suppose. It's still some while before the puppies are given away or sold. They first would get their vaccinations.

Meanwhile, it's fun watching them grow. Right now, they haven't opened their eyes yet. Still 12 blind puppies groping for food in the dark. What I think is "share worthy" is the mother dog migrating to the daughter dog's litter to nurse them. In human beings that would sound gross to me, for a mother to breast feed another woman's baby. But in animals, I thought it was cute. Maybe it's the other way around for you. You don't mind giving your baby to another woman to nurse for you from her nipples? I wouldn't think I will let that happen to me.

We are waiting for the bids. SOS is what happens when it's a natural disaster. This we brought on ourselves.
