This Would Have Been Another ISIS Story But (contd)

"Hello," said Festus. "Do you recognize me?"
"I think I know you," replied the housekeeper who had opened the door to greet the visitor.
Festus spoke to her for a few minutes and she went into the house. She reappeared after about twenty minutes.
"I didn't think that she left it lying anywhere around. Why don't you give her a call to find out where she left it?"
The housekeeper was pleasant but you could tell that she would prefer to be about her chores.
"Please give it one more try," pleaded Festus. "I have exhausted my airtime, otherwise I would have given her a call. Leniana was busy when I left but she's expecting me shortly."
"OK, I think I saw something like that while cleaning out her upstairs mini library last week. Did it come in a leather folder?"
She went into the house and reappeared with a branded polythene bag from GOTV. Inside the bag was a leather folder containing the documents Festus and Daniel had left with Leniana Mbeagwu almost a month ago. Festus thanked the housekeeper who later identified herself as Dulu and left the compound.

Meanwhile, as Festus walked away with the leather folder containing the documents he was oblivious that Daniel was without the compound. He had not intimated his senior colleague of his intention to retrieve the seized documents from Leniana fateful that night. He walked out of Ms. Mbeagwu's compound before she returned to accustom his unannounced visit. As he walked down the street to the main road where he would board a cab out of Leniana's part of the city, he decided to take a short walk out of the vicinity to relief his bladder. He decided to stay away from the main street and watch the traffic in the vicinity. He didn't want to be mistaken for an armed robber. It was almost 10 pm and Leniana was no where in sight. The climate was tense during this period before the local elections. Armed robbers often pestered the poor parts of the city but these rich people could apprehend anybody as hoodlum. So, caution was the watchword.

Daniel had decided to lay an ambush for Leniana. He knew that he couldn't afford to let the lady witch-hunt her way into relieving him of his job. A query was bad enough. What if he was served a sack letter instead? Of course, his desperation was inexcusable. He shouldn't have released the documents to Leniana without first receiving the check at the worst scenario or even ensuring that the accounts office notified him of a cash transaction representative of a bank deposit from her. True, this was some sort of a shoddy deal. Journalists did that all the time, they traded stories. He would have to figure out if this was believable or not or even ethical. For now, he did what his E-in-C had asked him to do. What if it was a shoddy deal, would he have to sue his boss or Destiny Movies? But what about his pregnant wife and Festus? Yes, Festus. Now, the poor boy won't be able to embark on his postgraduate studies again...Leniana. What a woman (...to be concluded soon).
